    CASTLE HILL – Michael Paul White, 66, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 20, 2008, in Presque Isle. He was born on March 3, 1942, in Phillips, the son of Stanton and Leola  (Kempton) White. Image
    Mike graduated from Phillips High School in 1960, and then went on to further his education as a civil engineer at the University of Maine in Orono. In 1964, Mike married Sally Barker of Phillips, and  they lived in various locations until 1970, when they moved to the Presque Isle area , eventually making their home in Castle Hill. Mike worked for many years for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service, based in Presque Isle. He eventually rose to the position of District Conservationist for the Central Aroostook Soil and Water Conservation District before retiring. He worked closely with numerous farmers  throughout Aroostook County, receiving numerous local, state and federal awards for his work. Mike’s positive influence was extended even further with involvement in activities such as “The Potato Pickers Special”, Boys Brigade at the local church, and Castle Hill  Planning Board.  Mike was always an avid outdoorsman, enjoying the peace and solitude that nature provided. He enjoyed fishing and working at the family’s tree farm. He also enjoyed, in recent years  using his knowledge of agriculture in the creation of a computer program and working with his son at his local business.     He is survived by his wife Sally of Castle Hill; his three sons, Tony White of Hickory, NC, Tim White of Frankfort, Germany, and Terry White of Presque Isle, as well as several grandchildren and great- grandchildren; two sisters, Anne Pike of Wilton and Marilyn Sinskie of Vienna. He was predeceased by his parents and a grandson. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and associates.
    Calling hours were 1-2 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2008 at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. Funeral services were held 2p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. George McLaughlin officiating. Immediately following  the service a reception will be held at the VFW Hall in Presque Isle. Spring interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle.
