ACAP departments announce new name, consolidation: ACAP Health Services

    PRESQUE ISLE – Aroostook County Action Program (ACAP) announced today that two of it’s departments, Health & Nutrition and HEALTH 1st, are consolidating services under one title – ACAP Health Services.
    The new name and consolidation was implemented to better reflect the common approach of offering multiple community health services with an emphasis on wellness and prevention.
    The agency will continue to administer the federal Women, Infants and Children Nutrition Program, popularly known as WIC, dental family planning, comprehensive reproductive health, Head Start Health, community health education and outreach services. ACAP Health Services also receives funding as a Healthy Maine Partnership. There will be no change in location or services that are currently available.
    ACAP has been providing health services to residents of Aroostook County for over 35 years. Connie Sandstorm Executive Director states ACAP aims to increase awareness of all available health programs, for which clients may be eligible, that focus on proactive, preventive health. ACAP provides the people of Aroostook with services and programs in the area of health, energy and housing, child and family services, education and employment.
