Improved site promotes Maine fishing

AUGUSTA – The Maine Office of Tourism recently added in-depth content about the state’s four-season fishing opportunities to its website visitmaine.com.     “The improvement was made because Maine’s world class fisheries deserve the spotlight,” said office of tourism marketing manager Steve Lyons. “We also know that fishing is one of the most-searched topics on the site, and the new layout will make it more convenient for anglers to plan their visit to Maine.”
The new fishing pages include information about fresh and saltwater fishing, fishing regions, Maine’s river country, fish species, family fishing, sporting camps and ice fishing.
There is an interactive map, an introductory video and a page with state resources and tips for making the most of a Maine fishing trip.
Maine’s Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife assisted with production of the content.
For more than 100 years fishermen have visited Maine to cast a line from its 5,500 miles of coastline, 6,000 lakes and ponds and 32,000 miles of rivers and streams.
The state’s fishing waters have remained strong because of management practices, a statewide stocking program and the general health of waterways.
