To the editor:
In my article last week, “Braden Theatre: 1950-2008”, I made a mistake, not an unforgivable one, you understand, but, nevertheless, a mistake. That error was, thankfully, caught by Cluny McPherson who realized it wasn’t Anton Nichols who made the John R. Braden cigars, but, in fact, Anton Oleson. I knew the very second what I had done when Cluny began the utter, “It wasn’t Anton …” I didn’t even let him finish and let out a whoop!
The Olesons were grandparents to the eight Nichols kids whom I have known through the years and had them in mind when writing the article. As “Blood and Guts” Hillary said the other day when her story about having to avoid sniper fire and the CBS film clip of that event didn’t quite agree … “I’m only human.” Well, that’s my excuse, too. Good enough for her, good enough for me. Thanks, Cluny.
