Adult softball meetings scheduled
    The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department will hold its organizational meetings for its co-ed and men’s softball leagues on Wednesday, April 16th. The co-ed meeting will be at 7 p.m. and the men’s meeting at 7:45 p.m. at the community center. Teams interested in participating this summer should have a representative present at the meeting.

Individuals interested in joining a team should contact the recreation office prior to the meetings, in order for names to be passed along to captains. For more information contact the office at 764-2545.
Volunteers needed
    The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department is looking for students in grades six to 12 who are willing to help out with the annual Peanut Carnival. The event will take place on Thursday, April 24th, from 1:30 to 3 p.m., and is open for children in grades one through five. Any willing to help out should call 764-2545 or email adampirec@maine.rr.com.
Summer applications
    The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department is now taking applications for summer employment. There are anticipated openings for the following programs: baseball, softball, tennis, arts and crafts, lifeguard, office aide, crossing guard and summer maintenance.
    Please stop by the office to pick up an application or contact Adam at 764-2545 with any questions.
Archery
    The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department is offering an archery program for youth and adults on Sundays from 6 to 8:30 p.m. This is an informal, drop-in program with a $6 fee for each night of shooting.
    Participants may bring their own equipment, but there will be some available for those who do not have equipment. There will be no archery on Sunday, April 6.
After school archery
    The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department will be offering an introductory after school archery program starting May 5. Grades three to five will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m., and grades six to eight will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m.
    The students will be introduced to the basic skills of archery, and they will work their way up through the Junior Olympic skills set. The cost of the six week program is $20. Equipment is provided. Please contact Adam at 764-2545 with any questions.
Middle school only night
    The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department is offering open gym hours on Friday evenings from 6:30 to 9 p.m. for middle school students.
Youth open gym
    The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department gym is open for youth each Saturday and Sunday. Hours will be from 1 to 3 p.m. for elementary youth and from 3 to 5 p.m. for middle and high school students. A pool table, table tennis, bumper pool, foosball, board games, a TV lounge and a gymnasium for basketball and other activities will be available.
Indoor Pool
    The Presque Isle Indoor Pool has started a new session of lessons.
    The following classes still have openings: Parent/toddler and infant classes on Tuesdays at 9 a.m. or 6 p.m. and Saturdays at 9 a.m.; 3-year-old classes on Monday at 6 p.m.; 4- to 5-year-old lessons Mondays at 6:30 p.m., Tuesdays at 3 p.m., Wednesdays at 9 a.m. and Fridays at 9 or 9:30 a.m.; learn to swim one for non-swimmers Tuesdays at 4 p.m. and Wednesdays or Thursdays at 6 p.m.; level three to six classes on Tuesdays at 3 p.m.; level four to six classes on Tuesdays at 4 p.m., Wednesdays at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m.; adult lessons on Thursdays at 7 p.m.; youth junior lifeguard classes on Fridays at 3:30 p.m.; and water exercise classes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 10 a.m. or Mondays and Wednesdays at 6 p.m.
