Take Off Pounds Sensibly #233 of Houlton met at the Aldergate building on High Street for its Friday, March 28 meeting.
Fourteen people attended; four were KOPS. Fifteen were at the meeting.
Kay Grass fulfilled her last meeting. Installation of officers took place after the minutes and the usual exercises. Charlotte Marley was installation officer with the help of outgoing Kay. Officers are: leader, Joyce Estey; co-leader, Brenda Lacostic; secretary, Vicki Little; treasurer, Janette Nelson; weight recorder, Joanne Scott and co-weight recorder, Denise Kinney.
Charlotte Marley took pictures and all the officers received congratulations from the members.
Loser of the week was Denise Kinney with Kay Grass, runner-up.
Winners of the drawings are: skinny dish, Kay Grass; mystery gift, Gerry McAfee and 50/50, Betty Ivey.
Kay distributed menus and gave directions to the Washburn workshop, which many are attending on March 29.
Charlotte Marley will be greeter for April. The contest is still in progress. Kay read a letter from Janice Cote, our chapter representative, on rules and regulations regarding audit.

It was the first meeting for leader Joyce Estey. She called the meeting to order and everyone identified themselves. Next was the secretary’s report by Vicki Little and Charlotte Marley gave a review of the weight, in the absence of Joanne Scott. Janette Nelson gave the treasurer’s report.
Loser of the week was Vicki Little with Betty Ivey as runner-up.
The 50/50 was won by Betty Marley; mystery gift went to Joyce Estey and the skinny dish to Kay Grass.
There was no report on the contest.
Joyce gave a report on the workshop she attended in Washburn with Gerry McAfee, Denise Kinney, Melva Folsom, and Joanne Scott. Everyone won an article. Joyce had a pink teddy bear she chose and passed around for all to see. She also had some certificates and awards. She gave an excellent review of the workshop.
The SRD in Bangor will be May 31 and reservations have already been set. Next week the bylaws will be selected for review for deletions and omissions and additions.
The weigh-in begins at 8 a.m. and runs until 8:45 a.m. Then the meeting and program start at 9 and runs for approximately an hour.

The Purple Hat Society met at Tiffany’s Restaurant in Island Falls for breakfast on Tuesday, April 1. The ladies had decided on breakfast instead of a luncheon at this time.
Leader Charlotte Marley was in attendance to greet the ladies. The members all stood to give their Purple Hat name.
Acknowledging birthdays in April were: Wannetta Townsend, Marie Gillotti, Jackie Kennedy, Gerry McAfee and Paula Wyman.
Bunny Stewart read several humorous stories. Charlotte Marley read the story of the “12 Opposums.”
Velma Cale was presented with the Purple Hat.
The group will meet at Tang’s in Houlton in May for a noon date. The Snowmobile Club date will be at a later time.

Twenty-five members and one guest of the Oakfield Senior Citizens met at the Oakfield Community Center on Wednesday April 2.
After the usual delicious pot-luck luncheon the business meeting was called to order. Treasurers report and card report were read and approved. The following officers were elected for 2008: Bob Locke, president; Don Marley, vice president; Delores Locke, treasurer; Mildred Gagnon, secretary; Marie Gillotti, decorations and Wannetta Townsend, cards.
Participating in the Easter Bonnet Parade were: Nacie Fowler, Marie Gillotti, Bunny Stewart, Wannetta Townsend, Don Marley, Ursula Levesque, Peggy Sanders, Gini Garrett and Charlotte Marley. Lots of unusual and interesting hats were worn. Nacie Fowler shared the “goodies” in her Easter Basket with everyone. Marge Seiler of Oakfield presented her test for dementia along with other humorous readings. Thanks Marge, come back again soon.

Patten Senior Citizens held its regular meeting at Meadowbrook Manor on April 1, with 11 members attending.
The prayer before the potluck meal was given by Maxine Brackett, with the Lord’s Prayer recited in unison by the members.
After the meal, the business meeting was opened with the Flag Salute, led by President Jackie Palmer.
President Palmer circulated trip descriptions for members to decide on for a summer trip.
A special Mother’s Day tribute will honor mothers on the May 6 meeting. Maxine Brackett will be the hostess.
Cards were signed and sent to Edythe Shorey, Joy Courtemanche and Dorothy Wamboldt.
Rubenia Botting and Jean Tarr are the April hostesses.
Maxine Brackett will make the birthday cake for the April 15 meeting.

Senior Citizens
The Sherman Area Senior Citizens met at the Sherman gym on April 2, for potluck lunch with only a scarce five members attending, who made the plans to have the belated Easter dinners of ham and turkey at our next meeting, which will be on April 16. Ivan Clark will be bringing his singers to entertain us. Call Annie to tell her what you could add of your specialty to compliment the special day. We shall hope that the weather will be more spring like by that time. What a winter we have experienced!
