Caribou Marketing/DECA students are receiving congratulations for their successful participation during the 40th State DECA Conference which was held at the Wyndham Hotel in South Portland, March 6-7.

Students winning first-place trophies were: Derick St. Peter and Ali Richards in the Financial Analysis Team Decision-Making Event; KC Dufour and Brandon Plourde in Sports and Entertainment Team Decision-Making; with Amanda Cyr and Katie Bell winning in the Buying and Merchandising Management Team Decision-Making Event. These first-place winners will be attending the International Career Development Conference in Atlanta, this month.
The Maine DECA Conference, hosted by the Maine Marketing Education Association, involves DECA students from marketing education programs across the state competing in competency-based role-plays and written exams.
Each student participated in two role-play situations, which tests the student’s skills in areas of human relations, economic knowledge, buying and pricing, selling and advertising and display.
The students study a variety of different areas such as advertising and display, finance and credit, apparel and accessories, general merchandising, vehicles and petroleum marketing; hospitality, tourism and sports and entertainment marketing. Other categories include food marketing and restaurant management.
Second-place trophy winners from Caribou High School were: Seth Sager, Automotive; Nicole Nadeau, Marketing Management; Jessica Ouimet, Business Services; Kristen Espling, Retail Merchandising; and Melissa Denner and Erin Susee, Hospitality Management Team Decision-Making.
Third-place trophy winners include Ben Rosser and Kyle Corrigan, Sports and Entertainment Marketing Team Decision-Making; Amber Pelletier, Apparel and Accessories; and Patrick Thibodeau, Food Marketing Series.
Other CHS marketing students participating in the state event were Kylie Chapman, Meg Bosse, Krista Albert, Chris Stairs, Deavin Gustafson, Victoria Dorman, Courtney Hamlin and Emily Keaton.
