It is hard to believe that our third quarter is nearing an end and that we only have a little over two months of school left. Will the snow ever go so the baseball, softball and tennis teams can get games under way? We can only hope! We have been busy with winter carnival.
Mrs. Tidd has listed below all the donations made by the classes. We are proud of our students for the help they are willing to give others. Great Job! Eighth grade registration will be on the evenings of April 14 and 15, from 6-8 p.m. in the library. April vacation is the week of April 21.
Junior High news
The seventh graders have been working diligently throughout the month of March, preparing for the seventh annual Women in History Pageant.
This pageant allows the students an opportunity to portray a woman from the past and educate their classmates about her unique contributions to our world. Twenty groups have done an abundance of research to discover the unique personalities and accomplishments of these women in history. Each group is then responsible for presenting an interview with their lady and enacting an original poem, song or skit that exemplifies the difference their historical figure made in our society.
The women being portrayed include Betsy Ross, Queen Victoria, Clara Barton, Nellie Bly, Marie Curie, Emily Post, Isadora Duncan, Helen Keller, Virginia Woolf, Dorothy Parker, Lillian Gish, Mother Theresa, Abigail VanBuren, Maria Tallchief, Olympia Snow, Christa McAuliffe, Jane Pauley, Katarina Witt, Samantha Smith and Monica Seles.
Last year’s champion, the group portraying Glenn Close, will be on hand to present the tiara and flowers to the top three groups. Those students include Christian Ponder, Amanda Fogarty, Carlie Woodworth and Nick Hannigan.

News from Mrs. Cowperthwaite’s room
Mrs. Cowperthwaite’s class has been working with the application of fractions in daily living. We have been cooking and decided to check out the tools for cooking, followed recipes, and shared with friends the results of our efforts. We are good! We would like to thank Walter Goodrich of Goodrich Jewelers for the mini-tour. Also, we would like to thank him for the help with understanding more about crystals, a major help on a science project. The book he loaned us was very valuable and informative. Thanks, Mr. Goodrich. Mrs. Linda Trickey from Co-operative Extension has been our guest in working to help students understand nutrition and make better choices in their dietary lives. Thank you, Mrs. Trickey, for being so involved with our education.
