ASHLAND – Shannon Bowring of Ashland, a senior at Ashland Community High School, has been selected to receive the 2008 Principal’s Award.
According to principal Robert Hennessey, the award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.
“Throughout her years at Ashland Community High School, Shannon has distinguished herself in the classroom and as a leader in the school and community,” said Hennessey. “She very much deserves this recognition.”
Bowring, Hennessey and other award winners and their principals attended an Honors Luncheon at the Spectacular Events Center in Bangor April 5.
The Honors Luncheon recognized these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of five $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler, both former Maine principals and executive directors of the Association.
The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 140 Maine public and private schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association that represents Maine’s school administrators.
