GUNNING FOR SPEED – Several members of the Presque Isle Police Department took advantage of warmer weather last week to set up a speed detail on Main St. across from the Elks’ Lodge. “It was such a great day, we thought we’d make an appearance again. We stopped a couple folks, gave some warnings. We really had relatively few problems, just a couple going a bit over the speed limit,” said Chief Naldo Gagnon. In addition to stirring up dust this time of year, speeding vehicles can cause considerable problems for pedestrians, especially downtown as the weather warms and folks are out and about checking out the many businesses along Main St. Gagnon said the speed detail provided an opportunity to remind drivers to slow down going through town.
