Contestants compete
The 2008 Little Miss, Miss Pre-teen, Jr. Miss, Miss Teen and Miss Easton Pageant was held at the Easton High School gymnasium on April 26, with Pat Paterson acting as master of ceremonies.
Those participating in the Little Miss section were: Anna-Marie Tompkins and Alanah Tarbox. Anna-Marie did a line dance for her talent which was choreographed by Shayna DeCruz of Presque Isle, and Alanah sang “On The Good Ship Lollipop.” Anna-Marie was selected runner-up with Alanah Tarbox earning the title of Little Miss Easton.
Bailee Getchell was the only contestant in the Miss Pre-Teen pageant and so was picked as Easton’s Miss Pre-Teen. She did a dance to the tune of “At the Car Wash” which was choreographed by Rebecca Perry.
There were three contestants for Junior Miss Easton: Stephanie Hammond, who did a self-choreographed hip-hop dance which she called, “1-2 Step;” Alexandra Dusza’s talent was a freestyle dance to “Our Song” choreographed by last year’s Junior Miss Easton, Abby Stewart; and Acacia Kimball’s talent was a cute piano piece called “Sneaky Business” along with a little action. Stephanie Hammond was chosen runner-up to Acacia Kimball, who took Junior Miss Easton 2008.
Brook-Ann Hammond and Kilynne Beaulieu were the contestants in the Miss Teen Easton. Brooke-Ann did a vocal, “Stupid Cupid,” and did very well indeed; and Kilynne danced to “Kung Foo Fighting” choreographed by Chris Cronkite, where she showed off her karate by breaking a board. Kylynne Beauleau was chosen as Easton’s Miss Teen for 2008.
Those entered in the Miss Easton segment were Casey Baston whose talent was a hip-hop dance to “All or Nothing,” choreographed by Shayna DeCruz. Contestant Mercedes Embleton also did a hip-hop dance for her talent which was choreographed by Julea Gournault. The final contestant, Kacie Getchell, did something a little different by playing her violin, beautifully, to the music of “My Heart Will Go On.” Casey Baston was picked Miss Easton 2008 with Mercedes Embleton as runner-up. Casey has held, over the years, the position of Little Miss Easton, and Junior Miss Easton. All the girls did exceptionally well in their talents and their parades in sports clothing and evening gowns.
The welcome was given by 2007 Miss Easton, Briana Lynn White, and throughout the evening the crowd was entertained by 2007 Little Miss Easton Breann Clayton, Miss Pre-Teen Easton Caitlin Monroe, Junior Miss Easton Abagale Leann Stewart and Miss Easton Brianna Lynn White. It was a nice pageant overall.
Correction
A correction and apology is due. In last week’s report on the American Legion meeting, I misinterpreted the Adjutant’s notes, when I wrote that there was need to contact Doug Henderson about his dues. I have since been advised that Doug is a paid-up Lifetime Legionnaire. Sorry Doug.

Visitors
Randy and Lynn Mitchell and their children, Sophie, Samantha, and Allison, from North Andover, Mass., spent a recent Monday through Wednesday visiting with Randy’s mother, Peggy Mitchell, in Presque Isle, and with his grandmother, Glenice Craig and Aunt Avis Hume at their apartments in West Ridge Manor. The family split up to spend the night between Glenice and Peggy due to the lack of room. Kevin and Nancy Nichols took them all to Govornor’s for supper with cake and ice cream to celebrate Allison’s birthday.
During Spring Break, the high school secretary, Jeannie Pelfrey, flew to Virginia and Lake Anna, where she spent 10 days visiting with her son, Kevin Pelfrey. While there they drove to Topsail, N.C., to spend time with Kevin’s wife, Donna, who has recently gone to work there. Kevin will be moving there the middle of this month. Jeannie enjoyed catching up on Kevin’s doings, lolling at the beach, soaking in the hot tub and just unwinding in general.
