CASTLE HILL – A barking dog alerted Residents of a State Road home to an invader late Monday, April 29.
“State police continue to investigate a home invasion in Castle Hill which occurred around 10 p.m. the evening of April 29. At least one intruder, possibly two, entered the home of Carl and Veronica Farley on the State Road,” said Lt. Darrell Ouellette, troop commander, Troop F, of the Maine State Police.     Ouellette said the Farley’s barking dog alerted the couple that something was wrong. That’s when they noticed an intruder had entered their home.
“One of the intruders was armed with a pepper spray substance and sprayed Mr. Farley as he and his wife were attempting to keep the intruders from entering their bedroom. After the unsuccessful attempt at gaining entry to the bedroom, the intruders then ran outside and made their escape,” said Ouellette.
Other than the effects of the pepper spray, Ouellette said the Farleys were not physically harmed in the incident and no property was taken.
The Presque Isle Police Department was contacted and Officer Jeff Mechalko and the department’s tracking K-9, Hunter, responded to assist in the investigation.
The intruders were reportedly wearing masks and attempts to locate the suspects using the K-9 were unsuccessful.
“State police continue to follow leads and are requesting any information from the public which    could lead to the arrest of these individuals,” said Ouellette.
Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call the Maine State Police barracks at 800-924-2261.
