CARIBOU – Viking tennis defended their home courts on Monday with a resounding 5-0 final in favor of CHS over Houlton. The win safeguarded the boys’ 5-0 record and brought the girls to 3-2. In boys’ results, Franz Zehentner defeated Ashir Abouleish 8-0, Shane Belanger defeated Musa Bilal 8-0 and Casey Lancaster reigned over Derek Thomas 8-1. In doubles, Taylor Jepson and Spencer McElwain took every match for the 8-0 final, and Tim Langlais and Ezra Duplissie-Cyr won their set 8-2.
In girls’ action, Laura Collins defeated Anna Caron 8-2, Octavia Panzeri defeated Hiba Bilal 8-1 and Jenna Selander defeated Kelsey Fitzpatrick 8-0. Doubles team Nicole Nadeau and Missy Nadeau posted an 8-2 win, and Lydia Kieffer and Elizabeth Barbosa beat their Shiretown team 8-1.
The Vikings and Wildcats met on the tennis courts in Caribou last Wednesday with split results. The Caribou boys posted a resounding 5-0 victory over PIHS. The Caribou girls lost a close call, 3-2.
On the boys’ courts in singles, Zehentner defeated Alex Carter 8-3, Belanger defeated Ben Picard 8-0 and Lancaster defeated Sam Picard 8-0. In doubles, Jepson and McElwain lost only one game to PI’s Chris Cawley and Mike Picard for the 8-1 final. Wakana and Langlais also took the win from Kyle Gilson and Emerson Castro, 8-2.
At the girls’ courts, the Vikings won a singles and doubles match. Selander volleyed past Amy Michaud 8-2, and N. Nadeau and Missy Nadeau claimed the victory over Brittany Bearden and Alyssa Farley in a tiebreak game.
Collins fell to Sarah Porter 8-0, Panzeri to Allison Dean 8-5 and Megan Nadeau and Kieffer to Jen Steeves and Madelyn Carson 8-3.
The boys’ team continued undefeated against Hermon on Saturday with a clean sweep of their matches, 5-0. Zehentner, Belanger and Lancaster all had singles wins taking all eight matches. In doubles, Jepson and McElwain also had an 8-0 victory for Caribou. Wakana and Langlais won by forfeit.
At the girls’ courts in Hermon, Viking Panzeri took the only Caribou win of the game 8-5.
