• Caribou Water, Light and Power Co. has had a number of new shade trees set out on the lawn in front of the power house.
• Miss Era Dahlstrom is currently engaged as a bookkeeper for S.W. Collins and Sons, during the absence of W. Oak.
• Potatoes are selling for $2 a barrel.
• Potato rows measuring 200 rods long, reaching from one road to another, have been planted by F. Dives. Planted two feet and nine inches apart, it would only take four and four-fifths rows to make an acre.
• Levi Russell has moved his family from the Grimes Road to the Drost farm.
•John McLaughlin was the high point man of the track meet held at the Caribou Trotting Park, between Caribou High School and ACI, with five second places and a first, netting him 20 points.
• A woods fire about three and one-half miles from Caribou on the Perham Road, burned the home of Perley Huston.
• Ernest Anderson of New Sweden, was among those from out of town attending the Caribou High School Junior Prom.
• Abner Jepson of Stockholm has leased the farm of the late Olof Swenson and will farm there this season.
• Amos Sirois is building a very attractive filling station on Limestone Street, between town and the fish hatchery. He will handle Gulf products and expects to have a line of tires. • The York Street home of Sterling Shaw is resplendent in a new coat of paint.
• Gary Langley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alton Langley has been promoted from private first class to specialist third class. He is currently stationed at Franklin Lakes, NJ.
• The Class of 1959’s Junior Prom at Caribou High School was a big success. Music for the evening was provided by Bill Bridgeo and his orchestra.
• The Maine State Library has established a bookmobile route in Aroostook County, headquartered at the Aroostook County Federal Savings and Loans, Assoc.
• Happy Tots Nursery School, under the supervision of Mrs. Robert C. Henderson, honored Gregory Disy on his fifth birthday with a party.
• Brian Rogers was host to a group of friends for refreshments following the Junior Prom.
• Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Scott have returned from a six week vacation to Europe, traveling by the ocean liner, The United States.
• Peter Harmon and Emily Kirkpatrick both competed in the county tennis singles championship recently. The two played well before finally being eliminated.
• Rose Trombley was named Resident of the Month for May at the Caribou Nursing Home.
• BobbieJo Cameron and Danny Beckwith captured first place trophies in the seventh and eighth-grade division of the cross-country race event at the Woodland Consolidated School’s Spring Fling.
• L. Bearce Carter was elected a new corporator at People’s Bank.
• Students at the Caribou Junior High Schools successfully performed the play, “Free to be You and Me”. • Karen St. Pierre of Limestone received the Theater Award from the University of Maine at Fort Kent.
