PRESQUE ISLE – Stuart D. Simpson, 61, died Sunday, May 11, 2008, at a Bangor hospital. He was born in Presque Isle on March 23, 1947, the son of Leo A. and Bertha L. (Adams) Simpson.
He worked for a number of years as a trainer and driver in harness racing. Harness racing and bass fishing were his passions.
He is survived by his companion Diane Ashford and her children, Steven and Ryan; four sons, Dale Simpson and his wife Deanna, Todd and his wife Tonya, Hubert, and Scott Simpson, a brother Willard Simpson, all of Presque Isle; three sisters, Harriet Simpson of Wheaton, IL, Dot Ropke of Houlton, and Sandra Lathrop of Presque Isle; and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son Willard “Billy” Simpson; three brothers, Dana, Hubert and Loren; two sisters, Carol Simpson and Fern Faulk.
Relatives and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church Street, Presque Isle. A graveside service will be held 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2008, at Fairmount Cemetery with Pastor Doug Taubin officiating.
