The Easton United Methodist Women met for their monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 21, at the home of the president, Eldora Carter, with five members present. Marie Hewitt led devotions with the word for the month being, “purpose.” A prayer list was made up and a special prayer given for them. There was no secretary’s report given as the secretary was absent. The treasurer, Marie Hewitt, reported that $115 was taken in on Blanket Sunday, held during Mother’s Day service. Fifty dollars of that amount came from the Mars Hill United Methodist Women. The sum was given to the Church World Service Organization and it will buy 23 blankets for those in need. Ten visitations were made by the group this month. Under New Business, the group voted to donate $100 to the area Red Cross to help defray the cost of the spring floods and home fires. The meeting was adjourned and refreshments served by the hostess. The next meeting will probably be at the church with hostess Lindy Fowler. Those present were: Marie Hewitt, Glenice Craig, Dottie Beaton, Lindy Fowler and the president, Eldora Carter.
