ImageImage    Washburn – Carroll E. Harris, 70, died May 25, 2008, at his residence in Washburn. He was born in Wade August 7, 1937, the son of Carlton and Frances (Fewer) Harris. He attended the Wade/Washburn Schools and was a graduate of the University of Maine at Presque Isle with a degree in history. Carroll served with the US Navy as a parachute rigger from 1955-1958, he then served with the US Air Force from 1958-1962. Upon returning to Washburn he was a self employed carpenter and also owned and operated Arrowhead Lumber in Wade for many years.
    He is survived by six sons, Carroll David Harris, and Patrick Carlton Harris both of Bar Harbor, Shawn Michael Harris of Wade, Steven James Harris of N. Conway, N.H., Joseph Beal Fletcher of Monmouth and Julian Frederick Harris of Ashville, N.C. Three daughters Julie Carina Keller of Washburn, Catherine Elizabeth Harris of Georgetown Tx., and Pauline Frances Howerton of Atlanta, GA. One brother Patrick of Addison, N.Y. 27 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren. His former spouse, Julia Harris, many nieces and nephews. A special aunt, Helen Stetson of Wade, a special cousin Shirley Langley of Worcester, MA and two special friends Charles McIntire and Merton Ellis. Mr. Harris was predeceased by a daughter Melanie Kay Harris, a brother Douglas and a former spouse Cynthia Chapperon.
    Funeral services were held  Friday, May 30, 2008  at 1 p.m. from the funeral home with Rev. Bruce Blakney, officiating. For online registery please go to www.mocklerfuneralhome.com
