Caribou – Janice M. Norris, 82, died June 2, 2008, at Caribou. She was born in Richmond Virginia February 25, 1926, the daughter of the late Albert and Dorothy (Morrison) Norris. She was a graduate of Madawaska High School as well as the Madigan School of Nursing in Houlton. Ms. Norris was a registered nurse for over 38 years and was employed as the nursing supervisor at Hartford, Ct. hospital for many years. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church where she was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne as well as the Daughters of Isabella. She was a member of the Lister-Knowlton Post 9389 VFW Ladies Auxiliary, served as a volunteer at Cary Medical Center for a number of years and was an active member of the Ladies Bowling League in Caribou.
She is survived by her sister Ruth Getchell of Caribou, a special niece Mary Carlene Gagnon of Caribou, four nephews Chip Getchell of Salem, Ind., David Getchell of Upper Kent, N.B., Michael Graham and Billy Graham both of E. Hartford, Ct. Three nieces Cathie Barthelemy of Caribou, Mary Totten of E. Hartford, Ct., and Patty Graham of Winsted, Ct., many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews. Janice was predeceased by her sister and husband Dorothy and Robert Graham, a nephew Bobby Graham and a brother-in-law Russell Getchell Jr.
Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home 24 Reservoir Street Caribou 7-9 p.m. Thursday, where member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, The Daughters of Isabella and the Ladies of St. Anne will gather at 7:30 p.m. for evening services. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2008, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the New Holy Rosary Cemetery. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Janice many do so through the American Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer’s Association.
