EASTON – Kristen Boxwell, a senior at Easton Junior/Senior High School, has received the 2008 Principal’s Award. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.
According to Principal Georgette Ireland, “Kristen is an outstanding student and citizen. She is very active in the FFA and has served as their treasurer and secretary. She is a member of the National Honor Society and has served as the chapter president. She served as treasurer for Student Council and Varsity Club. Kristen has participated in soccer, basketball and volleyball all four years. She has been accepted at the University of Maine at Presque Isle, where she will study social work and minor in math or business. We are all very proud of her.”
Boxwell, Ireland and other award winners and their principals attended an Honors Luncheon at the Civic Center in Bangor on Saturday, April 5. The Honors Luncheon recognized these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of five $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler. McGowen and Tyler were former Maine principals and executive directors of the Maine Principal’s Association.
The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 140 Maine public and private schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional organization which represents Maine’s school administrators.
