ASHLAND – Maine State Police have arrested two Aroostook County men who attempted to steal copper wire from an Ashland site. “On June 18 at approximately 10:20 p.m., State Police received a call from Maylan Page, of Ashland, advising that someone was stealing from a pile of copper wire he had on his property,” said Sgt. Tom Pelletier, of the MSP.
The two suspects fled on foot when Trooper Rob Flynn arrived at the scene.
“The two were later apprehended by state troopers on the Sheridan Rd. in Ashland,” said Pelletier.
The two men were identified as 32-year-old Jeffrey Thibodeau, of Caribou, and 26-year-old Jason Faggiole, of Easton.
“Thibodeau was arrested and charged with two counts of theft and several outstanding warrants. One of the counts of theft was from a prior theft at the same location within the past year,” said Pelletier.
Faggiole also faces charges stemming from the theft.
“Faggiole was charged with violation of bail conditions, hindering apprehension and theft,” said Pelletier.
The men were transported to the Aroostook County Jail.
Thibodeau’s hearing has been scheduled for Sept. 26, 2008, in Caribou Superior Court. Thibodeau remains in jail, unable to make bail of $2,500 cash or $10,000 surety.
