PRESQUE ISLE – MMG Insurance Co. recently presented a $5,000 check to the Pine Tree Chapter of the American Red Cross, Aroostook County Branch, to assist the Chapter in its efforts to help victims of the recent flooding in northern Maine. The unrestricted gift will be used by the Red Cross to help Maine families who were affected by the historic spring flooding.
MMG Insurance Co. recently presented a $5,000 check to the Pine Tree Chapter of the American Red Cross, Aroostook County Branch, to assist the Chapter in its efforts to aid victims of the recent flooding in the St. John Valley. The unrestricted gift will be used by the Red Cross to help Maine families who were affected by the historic spring flooding. “MMG has committed to assist local communities affected by the flooding in Aroostook County through a grant to the Red Cross,” said Larry Shaw, president and chief executive officer of MMG. “The Red Cross is a lead agency in helping local residents rebuild their lives following this natural disaster, and we are pleased to support their good work.”
Joyce Knorr, manager of the Pine Tree Chapter’s Aroostook County Branch, said she was very appreciative of MMG’s donation.
“All of us at the Red Cross here in the county are very grateful to MMG for this generous gift,” she said. “The recent floods affected hundreds of families, and your local Chapter could not have responded so quickly without help like this.”
The Pine Tree Chapter, with offices in Caribou, Bangor, Ellsworth and Rockland, has responded to more than 150 local household disasters this year, as well as to the county flooding. The Chapter also provides Armed Forces Emergency Services, health and safety training in first aid, CPR and water safety, and emergency preparedness training and information to people, agencies, businesses and towns in the county.
