 Image    Edmund J. Clowes  M/SGT USAF, (ret) 1983 Passed away in Rancho Cordova, CA June 26, 2008. Born July 22, 1924, in Houlton, ME. Son of Joseph B. Clowes and Jennie Louise (Mooney) Clowes of Houlton.
    He graduated from Houlton High School in 1942 and enlisted in the US Navy during World War II. After completion of navy service he continued his education at Richmond Professional Institute of William & Mary College, Richmond, VA. Upon completion he entered the US Air Force and retired in 1966, after 21 years of service. Upon retirement, he worked for the state of California retiring in 1981. He continued working for the state of California part time as a retired annuitant for 13 years (1988-2001).
    He was active in many community organizations. Past master of American River Grange #172, Rancho Cordova, CA, past president of Fair Oaks PSA (Program for active Senior Adults), past vice president of the Cordova Community Council, member of VFW post #10125 Rancho Cordova, CA, and an affiliate member of Houlton Grange #16, Houlton, ME, a member of St. Frances Episcopal Church, Fair Oaks, CA, and active participant of St. Clements Episcopal Church, Rancho Cordova, CA.
    He was the husband of Jene (Smith) Childs Clowes of Rancho Cordova, formerly of Mineral Wells, TX; father of Mario E. Clowes; grandfather to five grandsons, Michael Dennis, Timothy Dennis, Christopher Dennis, Aaron Clowes and Jonathan Clowes; five great- grandsons; and one great-granddaughter. He also leaves step-sons, Robert Childs, George Childs, William Childs;  a step-daughter, Gail Sanabria; five step-grandsons; four step- granddaughters; five step-great-grandchildren; also many nieces, nephews and very special cousins.
    He was proceeded in death by his wife of 40 years, Ruth (Brick) Dennis Clowes (1992); step-son, Clare Dennis (1988); his parents; beloved grandparents, James & Winifred Mooney; two brothers, Gerald Clowes and George Clowes; and special uncle and aunt, Clyde and Ruby Sanderson.
    Remembrances’ of flowers, charity of your choice or Ed Clowes memorial fund at either St. Francis Church or St. Clements Episcopal Church. A visitation will be held Wednesday July 2, 2008, from 4-8 at Mount Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks, CA. A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 3, 2008, at 2 p.m. at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 11430 Fair Oaks Blvd., Fair Oaks, CA.
