• Workmen began raising the large block of Sweden Street occupied by H.D. Collins and W.C. Spaulding.
• Caribou changed it’s state road to embrace Sweden Street, it’s principal business thoroughfare. Sweden Street was being greatly improved.

• Miss Judith Hallowell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hallowell of Caribou, received a prize as ”the most versatile girl” at Colby College in Waterville.
• Maynard G. Akerson, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Akerson of Stockholm, was appointed acting Sergeant in Germany, where he was a member of the 4th Armored Division.
• Caribou had its coldest June in 20 years, with an average temperature of 54.5 degrees, 22 days of rain and four days of thunder and lightning.
• Nearly approximately 400 people attended the annual Midsommar Festival in New Sweden.
• Robert McGuire, Norman Currier, Lewis Bearce, Atwood Davis, A. W. Spaulding and Eva Ryder attended theRep.State Convention in Portland where Vice President Richard Nixon was a guest.
• More that 4,000 people turned out to watch Limestone’s annual Fourth of July Parade.
• The fledgling Caribou Municipal Ambulance Service took a step forward as John Forestall and Bruce Washburn were hired as two of the three-person staff.
• With only .88 inches of precipitation recorded in Caribou for June, the Maine Forestry Bureau said local forests were very dry and susceptible to fire.
• Cary Medical Center, in cooperation with General Supply Corporation and Ames Department Stores, sponsored the first annual Cary Medical Center Memorial Golf Tournament at the Caribou Country Club.
• A. Carolla Haglund, associate professor of history, emeritus, of Framingham State College was a guest speaker at New Sweden’s 112th Midsommar Festival.
