The Easton Extension will be putting on the Field Day Sunrise Breakfast on Saturday, July 12, from 6 to 9 a.m. at the Odd Fellows Hall on Station Road. Costs will be $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12 years of age.
The Easton Happy Days Senior Citizens’ Club held their regular meeting last Thursday, June 26, with 16 members present. After lunch a short meeting was held as the speaker for the day could not come because of illness. The treasurer, Lindy Fowler, called the roll with these members present: Marie Hewitt, Eldora and Clair Carter, Lindy Fowler, Liana DeMerchant, Ida Doak, Alene Embleton, Edith Fuller, Arlene Ladner, Rena Richardson, Ezalee Smith, Nina Trask, Reginna Thomas, Joanne Johnson and Vera Cullins. The treasurer also reported on the cost of the new valances and the newly-purchased chair from Marden’s and gave the group the balance remaining in the treasury. The report was accepted as read. The secretary, Eldora Carter, read the minutes of the last meeting. President Marie Hewitt told the group, after the Pledge of Allegience was said, that there was little business and because the Easton Field Day would begin on their first July meeting day and the fact that she would not be available for the last meeting in July and neither would the vice president, Nina Trask, there would be no meetings in the month of July. It was agreed. The president read two comical pieces, “You Should Always Plan Ahead” and “Are You a Martha or a Maxine?” The meeting was adjourned and a few stayed to play games.
Visits
Liana and Paul DeMerchant have returned from their week at Rangely Lake where their son, Chris DeMerchant, his wife, Kayt, and their children, Ethan, Jacob and Ava, joined them. Chris and family are from Turner. They enjoyed the week even though it rained every day.
Keith and Esther Richardson have been spending the past two weeks in Hawaii as guests of their son Kert’s wife, Joanne’s, mother and father, who have a time share apartment there.
Judy Heath, of Patten, spent two days visiting with her brother and wife, Clair and Eldora Carter, week before last. Eldora drove her to the eye doctor and then they went shopping later in the day.
Travis and Sheri Carter have been on the road a lot in the last several days. First they accompanied Sean Daniels and his mother to the Eastern Maine Medical Center where Sean, at long last, got his bionic hand. Good friend Brad Trask was also there to share the emotional day with him. A few days later the Carters took their daughter, Kylee, to Sanford where she joined other children in a recreation play-off; and on Friday they drove to Lee where the recreation team that Travis coaches had their play-off. They returned home on Saturday.
Sympathy correction
On June 7, David Wright, not Albert Wright, was interred at the Estes Park Cemetery. Albert passed away last year and was interred at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Caribou. David died in April, 2008. Those from away who came to attend David’s interment were: his brother, Robert Wright, of Orono, and his sisters, Mary Jane Carron, also of Orono, and Carol Ann Manson, of Hancock.

Wednesday, July 2 – State Hershey Meet in Brewer starting at 11 a.m. Major League game at Fort Fairfield postponed until July 15 at 7:15 p.m. Tee-ball from 6-7 p.m. at the field behind the high school.
Thursday, July 3 – Day Camp from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the hall. Today’s theme will be Western; children may wear cowboy hats, boots, etc. Breakfast and lunch will be served. Seniors’ Seasonal Sensations will meet at the Manor at 12:15 p.m. The cost is $2 to cover the cost of food. We will be making “Fun in the Sun Banana Splits.”
Friday, July 4 – Happy 4th of July! Have a great day; there will be no recreation programs today.
Monday, July 7 – Day Camp from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the hall. Today’s theme will be sports. Breakfast and lunch will be served. Playgroup from 12:15-1:30 p.m. at the hall. Swimming at the PI Outdoor Pool departing at 1:45 p.m. and returning at 4:15 p.m. Karate Camp at the hall from 3-4:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required. Major League game at home at 5:30 p.m. Children should be a the field by 5 p.m.
Tuesday, July 8 – Day Camp from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the hall. Today we will be picking strawberries. The cost is $3. Breakfast and lunch will be served. “Free-time” from 12:15-1:30 p.m. at the hall. Swimming at the FFI Outdoor Pool departing at 1:45 p.m. and returning at 4:15 p.m. Karate Camp at the hall from 3-4:30 p.m. Minor League Game at Mars Hill at 5:30 p.m.
Wednesday, July 9 – Waterslide field trip to Yogi Bear Park departing at 10 a.m. and returning at 4 p.m. The cost is $10 The children must have a release form and birth certificate on file in order to attend. Major League game at home at 5:30 p.m. Players should be at the field by 5 p.m. Tee-ball from 6-7 p.m. at the field behind the high school. Easton Field Day’s Basketball Tournament starting today at 6 p.m. at Easton High School.

EASTON CITIZENS who have volunteered to act as officers, for the present, to get the planned "Faith in Mission" Food Cupboard up and working for the town of Easton are, from left: Chairman Bryan Lawrence, Secretary Lisa Guerette, Vice Chairman Joe Lockhart and Treasurer Harold Clark. Now all that is needed is a place to put the food cupboard and get it started.

HERSHEY REGIONAL – Several athletes from the Easton Recreation Department participated in the Regional Hershey Track and Field Competition in Caribou on July 24. Those competing included: Drew Sotomayer, Nicholas Clark, Emma Bonner, Kylee Carter, Stephanie Hammond, Kesley Frank, Trevor Hathaway, Hannah Ferris, Alex Allen, Sara Gilman, Jake Flewelling, Elise Allen, Blake Bradley, Bailee Getchell, Carla Halvorson, Holden Turner, Arianna Babineau, Hunter Turner and Ian Sotomayer. Nine of theses athletes qualified for the state meet July 2, in Brewer.
