King, McElwain awarded scholarship

    The Maine Sports Legends announced their 2008 Northern Region scholarship honorees as Spencer McElwain and Karyn King, two Caribou High School graduates. Eight scholarships are awarded to four boys and four girls in the state of Maine who demonstrate outstanding athletic ability, scholarship, leadership, character and community service. Both McElwain and King will receive $500 scholarships at the start of their second semester in college.     McElwain, son of Frank and Joan McElwain, participated in varsity cross country, varsity Nordic skiing, varsity tennis and varsity track and field. McElwain will be attending the University of Maine College of Engineering in the fall.
    King, daughter of Gena King, participated in varsity cross country, varsity basketball and varsity track and field. King will attend Colby College in the fall.
