Milliard’s baseball play

    BANGOR – Matthew Milliard, a sixth grade student at Woodland Consolidated School, won second place in the 11- to 12-year-old division of the Maine Pitch, Hit and Run Sectional Competition held in Bangor on May 31.

    Milliard advanced to the State competition after placing first in the pitching category at the local competition held in Caribou, sponsored by the Caribou Recreation Department and Caribou Little League, on May17.
    MLB’s Pitch, Hit and Run competition provides boys and girls, ages 7 to 14, the opportunity to showcase pitching, hitting and running abilities. Winners can advance through four levels of competition, all the way to the National Finals at the MLB All-Star Game. The competition is broken into four age divisions.
