Washburn District High School recently held their 2008 Spring Sports Awards program at the Camille “Doc” Albert Gymnasium on June 11. Athletic Director Ron Ericson thanked the athletes, and staff for efforts during the season.
Tammy Tatlock, girls’ volleyball coach, presented certificates and picture plaques to Rachel Palmer, Kristen Goupille, Kelsey King, Sydney Beckwith, Morgan Berube, Erica McDougall, Kelsee McLaughlin, Kelly O’Donnell, Kayla Pike, Lindsey Blackstone, Rebecca Campbell and Amanda Libby. McLaughlin received a certificate for being named to the Tournament All-Star Team, and a trophy for being the Most Valuable Player. Picture plaques were presented to the girls winning the Aroostook League Division III Tournament Championship.
George McLaughlin, boys’ volleyball coach, presented certificates to Evan Sperrey, Sebastian Viola, Salvatore Viola, Garth Kinney, Tyler Farley, Maurice White, Nick McIntosh, Chris Farley, Travis Conley, Brian Campbell and Jensen Reed.
Reed received a certificate for being named to the Tournament All-Star team, and a trophy for being the Most Valuable Player.
Ben Goodwin, varsity baseball coach, and assistant coach Jay Trainer presented certificates and pins to C. Farley, Sebastian Viola, Salvatore Viola, Ethan Doody, Trevor Pendexter, Campbell, Conley, Matt Howe, and Justin Howe. Receiving their first varsity letters were Reed, T. Farley and White. The Coach’s Award was presented to Sebastian Viola. Conley was named the Most Improved Player. Doody was recognized for being named All-Aroostook and for being the team’s Most Valuable Player.

Earning their first varsity letters were Libby and Kayla Brewer. Palmer earned a third-year plaque.
McLaughlin was recognized for being named to the All-Aroostook team.
The Coach’s Award was presented to Koch. Libby was named Rookie of the Year. McLaughlin was named Most Valuable Player.
