The Aroostook Football League (AFL) will hold its first football camp and measuring night for football players for the 2008 season at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 12. The camp will be held at the Maliseet Field.
All students who will be in grades 9-12 in the fall that would like to play football for the Houlton area varsity or junior varsity teams should attend. Players need to wear appropriate athletic attire (no jeans or boots)
The camp will involve: basic football drills, conditioning, 40-yard dash, measuring of players and outfitting them for equipment and a question-and-answer session for players and parents.
Coaches Brian Reynolds, Joseph Ewings and Richard Cleary, as well as players from last season will be on hand to answer any questions that parents and students may have. No prior football experience is required and all players that complete mini-camp receive playing time.
The AFL teams will compete against a number of teams in Aroostook and northern Penobscot counties and will be playing eight games plus a championship game. There will be home games, including home playoff games for the higher seeded teams.
