Rhodes, Lorraine Clair (Jalbert), 79, Bangor; in North Carolina, July 6, 2008. A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 20, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church, Bangor. Immediately following the memorial service, friends and family will be received at the Rhodes home in Bangor.

 

    Bangor – Lorraine Clair (Jalbert) Rhodes, 79, died following a brief illness on Sunday, July 6, 2008, at the home of her son in North Carolina. She was born to Samuel and Delia (Jandrea) Jalbert on Feb. 20, 1929, in St. Francis, ME.Image
    Lorrraine was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She graduated from the University of Maine at Fort Kent (previously Madawaska Training School) in 1952, and taught elementary school at Loring Airforce Base and other norhtern Maine communities for several years. Married on August 13, 1953, she and her husband, Dean, raised their four children in Presque Isle and resided there for thirty-five years. At 17 Dudley Street, her home in Presque Isle for twenty-seven years, she nurtured a beautiful flower garden featuring lilies, peonies, lilacs, and poppies which she generously, and enthusiastically enjoyed sharing cuttings and bulbs with family, friends and neighbors.
    She is survived by her husband, Dean Rhodes of Bangor; daughter, Elizabeth and husband, John Perrit, of Wilmington, NC; son, John of Efland, NC; daughter, Peggy Perry and husband, Chris, of Hilton Head, SC; son, Robert and wife, Andrea of Dracut, Mass.; several grandchildren, Meridith, Elizabeth, and Jack Perritt, of Wilmington, NC; grandsons, Jack and Benn Perry, of Hilton Head, SC; and Joseph and Ryan Rhodes of Dracut, Mass. Also surviving are brother, Maybard, of Caribou and Presque Isle; brother, Pat, of Allagash; sister, Peggy McGreal and husband Jimmy, of Portland; brother, Ray, of Fort Kent; sister, Elizabeth Pecoraro of Fort Kent; brother, George of Wallagrass; and many special nieces and nephews. Lorraine was predeceased in death by four of her brothers: Earl, Ervin, Phil and Rex Jalbert.
    A memorial service will be held to celebrate her life Sunday, July 20, 2008, at 2 p.m., at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 120 Park Street, Bangor, ME. Immediately following the memorial service, friends and family will be received at the Rhodes home at 214 Broadway, Bangor.
