Caribou All-Stars win annual tourney

    CARIBOU – Caribou hosted the third annual Lion’s Invitational Little League Tournament the weekend of July 26 and 27.     The Caribou All-Stars, Fort Fairfield, Houlton, Madawaska and Caribou Hydroblend competed in the 9- and 10-year-old division. Houlton, Madawaska, Mapleton/Presque Isle, the Caribou All-Stars and the Caribou Cavaliers competed in the 11- and 12-year-old division.
    The Caribou All-Stars took the 9- and 10-year-old title after defeating Fort Fairfield 13-2, Houlton 7-6 and Madawaska 11-8. The All-Stars lost to Houlton 8-4 in the first round of the championship series, but came back in the second 8-7.
    The 11- and 12-year-old All-Stars also won their age division by defeating Madawaska 6-1.
     The All-Stars defeated Houlton twice, 7-5 and 3-1, for the title.
