Sodergren, Rosalind, 96, Stockholm, at Madawaska Lake, August 4, 2008. Friends may call 5-7 p.m., August 6, at the Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Home, Caribou. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Stockholm.

 

Image    STOCKHOLM – Rosalind Sodergren, 96, passed away peacefully Monday August 4, 2008, at the family camp on Madawaska Lake in Stockholm. She was born September 16, 1911 in New Sweden the daughter of Herman and Helena (Lundgren) Anderson. She graduated from local schools and from Aroostook State Teachers College in Presque Isle. Rosalind taught seven years in New Sweden and Jemtland in a one room school house teaching all eight grades.  She then taught mostly first and second grades for 21 years in Stockholm. During that time she married Arthur Sodergren with whom she would spend 42 years.  She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, traveling, and spending summers at the family camp on Madawaska Lake.  Rosalind was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Stockholm.
    She is survived by two sons; Marvin Sodergren and his wife Sally of Lebanon, CT, Melvin Sodergren of Crestwood, Kentucky, one daughter Shirley Labieniec and her husband Dan of East Syracuse, NY, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one step-granddaughter. She is also survived by a brother Richard Anderson of Ocala, FL, a sister Helene Ludwig of Titusville, FL, as well as several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Arthur in May of 1979.
    Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2008, at the Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St., Caribou, ME. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Stockholm with Pastor Dan Labieniec officiating.  Interment will take place following the service at Stockholm Cemetery.
