WASHBURN – Virginia H. Young, 87, wife of the late George Young went home to be with her Lord and Savior August 2, 2008, at Presque Isle. She was born in Wade August 18, 1920, the daughter of the late Russell and Laura (Baker) White. As a young girl, Virginia was a hard worker, helping her father and brothers on the family farm and with the harvest, She would often pick over 100 barrels of potatoes a day. She was employed at Taterstate in Washburn for many years and was a member of the Dunntown Advent Church. Virginia loved her home in Washburn and was always doing things, both inside and out to improve it, and she loved to have grandchildren and great grandchildren come for summer visits. During those visits they would enjoy camping, cook outs and her wonderful homemade beans and franks dinners on Saturday.  She enjoyed working in her flower gardens and always looked forward to spring when she could start working the soil again. She loved to knit and made many wonderful afghans for her family. Virginia was a generous and caring person who made up gift bags at Christmas filled with home baked goodies. She and George would then take them to many senior citizens in the Washburn area. And Christmas was not complete until they made the trip to Massachusetts to spend the holiday with her family.
She is survived by her son and daughter in law David and Barbara Young of Maynard, Ma.; one grandson Robert Young and his wife Mary of Hudson, Ma.; one granddaughter Claudette Carini and her husband Andrew of Ashland, Ma; her great-grandchildren, Kelly and Kristine Young; one brother, Phillip White of Wade; several nieces and nephews as well as a special friend Gwen Bragg of Wade.
