Clam Shop owners bring cooking talents to Island Falls country club

ISLAND FALLS – The fine quality that you find and expect at Craig’s Clam Shop is now available at VaJoWa Golf Course. The people who enjoy the food so much in the summer at the clam shop now have the opportunity to have their flat clams in a sit-down envirnonment.
The owners of the highly popular Craig’s Clam Shop on Main Street in Patten opened for business July 4 in Island Falls, preparing lunch and dinner for hungry golfers and everyone who makes the worthwhile drive to Craig’s Maine Course at the clubhouse nestled between Pleasant and Mattawamkeag lakes.
In addition to all the favorites available at the Clam Shop, the Hartsgroves’ new sit-down restaurant offers much more like baked and broiled seafood, steaks as well as pizza and sandwiches. And, yes, there is an impressive lineup of desserts to top off a meal and a fully stocked bar.
“We have great food and we love what we do. Customer service is the key to our business. We want everyone to be happy when they leave and we want them to come back soon,” said Jennifer.
There’s activity beyond the restaurant as well as food and beverage can be taken outside on the deck. Craig’s Maine Course is also the perfect location for events like weddings, class reunions and family parties.
“We just recently had a very successful clambake and we are planning a Polynesian Luau on August 23rd,” Jennifer added. “We encourage people to wear a Hawaiian shirt for a free surprise.”
Based on their initial success, the Hartsgroves plan to keep the business open during the winter, possibly with slightly different hours of operation.
Craig’s Maine Course, open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., is located at 142 Walker Settlement Road, Island Falls. Their phone number is 463-2425 or you may e-mail Jennifer at scrapbookingdrms@aol.com.
