PRESQUE ISLE – Presque Isle resident Lenny Cole recently completed his Professional Climbing Instructor Association certification exams.
The exams followed a year of skill consolidation and participation in the AMGA Top Rope Site Managers Course taken with Acadia Mountain Guides of Bar Harbor and Orono.
Cole is now certified to guide clients in two separate top rope disciplines.
Exam skills included belay and repel systems, anchor construction, coaching clients and risk management.
Cole is currently an adjunct lecturer at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. He instructs the ‘Introduction to Climbing’ course, which is offered in the spring semester. Cole also guides climbing trips organized by the Outdoor Adventure Program International (OAPI).
OAPI runs various outdoor journeys including rock climbing for both students and community members.
