PRESQUE ISLE – Aimee Wilkins, a 2007 graduate of the accounting information systems program at Northern Maine Community College, has returned to her alma mater to coordinate the activity of the NMCC Foundation.
Jason Parent, NMCC director of development and college relations, announced that Wilkins has joined the NMCC family with her recent appointment to the position of Foundation and institutional advancement assistant.
“Aimee excelled as a student and is an outstanding and exemplary NMCC alumna. As a student she assisted with, and supported the efforts of, the ‘Campaign for The County’s College,’ the major gifts campaign which concluded earlier this year and raised $2.5 million for student scholarships and for other support of the College,” said Parent. “Aimee’s previous experience and academic training, as well as her positive can-do attitude and keen understanding of the College and the region and people we serve, are key assets which she brings to her new position.”
Wilkins most recently served as resource coordinator for 2-1-1 Maine, covering the Aroostook County region. The non-profit organization was formed in partnership with United Ways of Maine and Portland-based Youth Alternatives Ingraham to develop a health and human services information and referral service system to serve the entire state of Maine, every day and in times of crisis. She has also served as a bookkeeper since 2004 for County-based Woodlot Management Services.
Before moving to central Aroostook from the St. John Valley in 2004, the St. Agatha native operated her own music studio, providing private lessons to students of all ages.
Working with the NMCC Foundation is an opportunity, which Wilkins embraces as both professionally rewarding and a way to give back.
“While a student, I was fortunate to have been a recipient of one of the Foundation scholarships and appreciate how local businesses and community members continue to generously support the Foundation,” said Wilkins. “It is a privilege to come back to the College and work in this capacity helping to make it possible for students to attend NMCC and receive the same quality education I did. I look forward to working with the Foundation board members and meeting various donors.”
Wilkins’ responsibilities include serving as the primary staff member for the NMCC Foundation, a role that includes fund-raising, coordination of Foundation activity and management of information. She will also be actively involved in NMCC’s efforts to re-establish an active alumni organization in the coming year.
Wilkins and her husband, Bruce, reside in Presque Isle.
