Big Dig on Green Street

BIG DIG ON GREEN STREET — Houlton Water Company (HWC) had to divert traffic a few times over the last couple of weeks after a water main sprang a leak. HWC’s Brian McGuire said water was bubbling up through the ground when he and co-workers Kenny Gonya and Andy Clark showed up to repair the water main. That only took a couple of hours. But, to minimize disruption to traffic, especially with the slowdown on Bangor Street for road repairs, they went back last Wednesday while school was out and put in a new water line to the house where water had to be shut off. Fortunately for the homeowners, they were out of town.
