FIRE SAFETY — Customers at Shop ‘n Save in Houlton were in for surprises last Thursday when the store put on fire safety demonstrations, handed out brochures and held free raffle drawings for carbon monoxide alarms and fire extinguishers. The store’s effort for Fire Prevention Week was in cooperation with the Houlton Fire Department and Maine Fire Prevention Services. Tragically, one family, who chose not to be identified, signed up for the free raffle after recently losing their home to fire. Glen Miller, HFD, explained the workings of the fire truck and how to stay safe to several shoppers and children. Mrs. Rita Sturtevant was among many customers who signed up for the free raffle while son Jared came away with activity books and a bright blue balloon.
