Stacy Bernier of the Limestone/MSSM Lady Eagles scored three times in her team’s 9-1 victory over Wisdom last Tuesday in St. Agatha.
“We are a successful team when we play together and we use the strengths of each of our teammates,” Alley said.
“We need to play a passing game, work together and never give up on a play.”
Fort Fairfield ended up with an 8-5-1 mark as the team returned 15 veterans from last year’s squad. The Lady Tigers, with this year’s steady performance, have now qualified for the Eastern Maine Class D playoffs seven consecutive seasons.
The defense consists of junior Kelsie Wilson at sweeper, senior Amber Forsman at stopper, junior Sarah Hebert at left fullback and sophomore Amber Wasson at right fullback. The starting goalie is freshman Katy Donovan.
Junior Courtney Churchill and senior Rose-Mary Williams start at center midfield, while senior Kelsie York and sophomore Alyssa Murchison flank Churchill and Williams on the wings.
Sophomore Brooke Beaulieu plays striker along with senior Kaitlyn McLaughlin.
The Lady Tigers also feature a deep and talented bench, which Alley said has been another key to the season to date.
Fort Fairfield won two of three matches following the recent harvest break, topping Limestone/MSSM and Central Aroostook while losing to a very strong Class C team in Madawaska.
