SHERMAN — A stranger with a deep voice got out of an SUV-type vehicle, said “come on” and motioned for a 9-year-old girl to get into the car with him and a male passenger around 2 p.m. Sunday according to Sgt. Forrest Dudley of the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department.
Dudley said the girl was about to tie up her dog when the men stopped at her home on the side of the road in Sherman. But, instead of complying with the stranger, the mother said her daughter ran into the house and was visibly shaken.
The girl described the driver as a chubby white male about 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall with brown hair and a brown mustache, wearing ripped blue jeans and a navy blue polo-type shirt. She said she did not see the passenger well enough to give a description, according to Dudley.
The pair drove south on Route 2 and have not been reported since. Dudley says there have been no similar incidents recently with the possible exception of a report early in the summer. The matter is under investigation.
