    Caribou – Allen James Curran, 89, husband of the late Ruth (Cochran) Curran, died November 10, 2008 at Caribou. He was born at Perham, September 18, 1919, the son of James and Laverna (Conroy) Curran. He served with the US Army during WWII. Allen was employed at Loring Air Force Base Civil Service for 30 years as pavement and grounds foreman.  Following his retirement he was employed as a tank truck driver for John Noble Transport.  He was a member of the Caribou United Baptist Church and the Lister-Knowlton Post #9389 VFW. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish and was a member of the Unisled Snowmobile Club in Caribou and the Washburn Trail Runners. 
    Allen is survived by a son Gregory Curran of Caribou; and daughter and son-in-law Deborah and Fred Bush of Beltsville; three sisters Annie Drier of San Francisco, CA, Marjorie Baumann of CA and Eldora Nedeau of Woodland; two grandchildren Bradley Bush and Amanda Ginter and her husband Zach; two great-grandchildren Caden and Riley Ginter; several brothers and sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews.   
    Funeral services were held 1 p.m., Friday, November 14, 2008, from the chapel of the Mockler Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Kiehn, pastor of the Caribou United Baptist Church, officiating.
