BRIDGEWATER – Colby Mark Simonson, 23, went home to be with the Lord on November 14, 2008.  He was born in Presque Isle on April 15, 1985, to Mark and Catharine (Boone) Simonson.  Although his time was short here on earth, the pure love he gave to those who knew him will remain in their hearts forever.Image
Colby was a lifelong resident of Bridgewater and a member of the Bridgewater Free Baptist Church.  He attended schools in Houlton until his late high school years and enjoyed many friendships with his classmates.  He completed his last years of school through a home- and community-based curriculum at SAD #1.  Colby became a volunteer at The Aroostook Medical Center in 2005 and enjoyed completing work for TAMC and the Aroostook Area Agency on Aging Meals on Wheels Program.
Colby loved his family and loved special gatherings with his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins at holiday times, parties, and get-togethers at camp.  He had a very close, loving relationship with his parents and enjoyed an extraordinary bond with his kind and loving brother, Kyle.  Vacations were very special times for Colby and his family and he loved the Christmas season, watching TV, shopping, and being a citizen of his community.
Colby was very observant and appreciated the fine details of things.  Colby saw the world with a different point of view and those who were able to look at the world as he did were rewarded by the connections they were able to make with him.  He had a great sense of humor and meaningful relationships with people in his life.  Many people helped and gave of themselves to Colby and were rewarded by Colby giving of himself to them.  He enriched and made better the lives of those who knew and loved him.
Colby is survived by  his parents of Bridgewater; his paternal grandparents, Charles and Betty Simonson of Bridgewater; his maternal grandparents, Blinn and Joan Boone of Mars Hill; a brother, Kyle of Portland; three aunts, Kristi Bradbury of Bridgewater, Barbara Boone of Orrington, and Julie Bradstreet of Bridgewater; three uncles, Bradford Boone of Lincoln, Rodney Boone of Kentucky, and Raymond Boone of Presque Isle; cousins, Jacob Shorey, Amanda Boone, Blake Bradbury, Jon Bradstreet, Maxwell Boone, Eric Bradstreet, Ben Fox, Joseph and Libby Boone, and a special friend Mandy Putnum.
Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2008, at the Free Baptist Church in Bridgewater with the Rev. Robert Vaughn officiating. Friends called noon until time of service at the church. Interment was in Smith Cemetery, Bridgewater. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Colby’s memory to the Autism Society of Maine, 72 B Main Street, Winthrop, ME 04364. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan Funeral Home, Mars Hill.
