As the Caribou Pet Rescue Board members continue their efforts to make this small part of the world “right”, we wanted to stress a few reminders.
The most important: the Board is not asking or expecting the public to adopt an animal just to help Caribou Pet Rescue out. As the animals are cleared and ready for adoption, please be sure that you are in a position to give them a forever loving home. The worst thing for any animal is to be adopted impulsively and then later regretted. Please consider your financial and personal burdens before making a lifetime commitment to a pet. If adoption isn’t right for you, remember there are so many other ways to help.
Secondly, the Board needs to clarify that donations are vitally important right now. More so than ever. Our daily costs haven’t gone away during this quarantine. The expenses are just a lot harder to fund, especially if your donations stop. CPR still has all its every day operating costs, plus the added expenses associated with treating all the animals that have or may have been infected with giardia. While the treatment may not be expensive, the veterinarian’s time and other factors are. Consider that while CPR is closed to the public, no one is coming in to fall in love and lose their hearts to a pet.
Without sounding desperate, we do need your help now more than ever! Please continue bringing you rempty bottles to Dodo’s Market, on the Access Highway or Bennett Drive Redemption and specify that your donations are for Caribou Pet Rescue.
CPR still has its collection containers at various local businesses, too.
When you drop off your pocket change or dollar bills, would you take a minute to thank them for allowing these collection boxes to be in their place of business? Those returnable bottles and all collection jar money really add up. CPR is still maintaining its presence at Valley Flea Market on Access Highway in Caribou, thank you Gilda for that. The items on display are still being sold on the honor system.
Christmas is coming. You know that person you seem to struggle to find the “just” right gift for each year? Maybe this season you would consider sponsoring a CPR animal in that person’s honor. It’s not too late to buy a soy candle made locally by a dear friend of CPR’s. “Wicks From the Sticks” is providing 11- ounce candles selling for $9 each and 24-ounce candles selling for $15 a piece. These candles would also make a great gift–plus gift bagging is free. Call 498-3800 or 496-3707 and leave a message if you want to support that fund-raiser, which ends Nov. 21 to ensure Christmas delivery. You see there are so many ways to help, especially if adoption isn’t right for you.
We are very excited to tell you about another fund-raiser going on now until Nov. 30. CPR is selling raffle tickets for $500, yes, five hundred dollars worth of No.2 home heating fuel. A limited number of tickets will be sold for $5.00 (five dollars) each. Again, call 498-3800 or 496-3707 and leave a message if you are interested in tickets. We’ll deliver the tickets to you – Dead River Company will deliver the fuel to the lucky winner. Some restrictions may apply.
As always, your support is tax deductible and checks can be mailed directly to CPR. Please note our new mailing address is P.O. Box 754, Caribou, ME 04736.
To all our friends who have helped Caribou Pet Rescue and continue to help the animals —Thank you so very much. CPR’s many successes would never be possible without you.
