Misinformation hurts

To the editor:
My daughter’s name was recently published with inaccurate information for the second time. She is complying with the punishment handed to her by the court, but she did not receive 90 days in jail as you stated. Isn’t the humiliation of having your name published enough without the added misinformation?
My father lived by the statement, “if you can’t help someone why do you have to hurt them?” Please try to think of the negative impact of your reporting on people who are trying to change their lives. Children are also affected by misinformation about their parents in small communities.
My attitude toward the Houlton Pioneer Times has become one of “just because you read it in the paper doesn’t mean it its true.” I have been affected and also so has your paper.
