HOULTON — The Maine Department of Labor has hired Patricia Perry of Houlton as manager of Aroostook County CareerCenter services.
Perry is responsible for oversight of the Presque Isle CareerCenter and managing services to areas without a full-time CareerCenter, including Houlton.
“Patty was an excellent match for the position and we are happy to have her on board,” said Maine Labor Commissioner Laura Fortman. “She knows the dynamics of the local economy and understands the needs of Aroostook County workers and business.”
Perry noted that one of her top priorities is ensuring that the CareerCenter continues to have a presence in Houlton. “Businesses and workers were understandably concerned about impact of the CareerCenter consolidation on Houlton,” Perry said. “I’m committed to ensuring that CareerCenter services remain accessible to people in southern Aroostook.”
The CareerCenter is holding office hours in Houlton on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the ACAP building on Military Street. “Because I live in Houlton, I’ll also be available by appointment to people who can’t reach us during our limited hours at ACAP,” Perry said.
Perry has a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling and was most recently employed at the Loring Job Corps Center.
