Local resident, Bill Marciniak is turning in his postal talents to spend more time on the golf course, tuning up his piano playing skills, experimenting in the kitchen and taking a few trips.

MARCINIAK RETIRES — Postal clerk, Bill Marciniak is retiring after 17 years with the United States Postal Service in Houlton. Postmaster Fred Workman, right, presented Marciniak with a citation signed by William J. Boughgon, district manager from Portland for his service. He also received a monetary gift.
Marciniak gathered with fellow postal workers Nov.21, to say “so long.” He has been behind the counter of the Houlton Post Office for 17 years. His last official day to work will be Nov.30.
“I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. The best part of the job has been the people I have worked with and the customers I have waited on,” he said.
“I always looked forward to going to work. I will miss everyone here,” Marciniak added.
Postmaster Fred Workman presented Marciniak with a special citation award for his service with the United States Postal Service, signed by William J. Boughgon, district manager from Portland. He also received a monetary gift for his retirement.
Marciniak’s wife, Mary Ann joined in the early morning gathering in the mailroom of the post office. Former colleagues, postmasters and supervisors including long-time friend and retired co-worker, Malcolm Mersereau, Michael Jenkins, Monticello postmaster, and Kim Hurless supervisor of the Houlton office also joined in wishing Marciniak a happy retirement.
