LIMESTONE — The annual Limestone Christmas Light parade is scheduled for Nov 30. This year’s theme is “Christmas for Everyone”, and an additional prize has been added this year.     “We have a $100 prize for the best theme float and a $100 prize for the best lights on a float,” said Bobbi Jo Hanley of Caldwell’s Auto LLC. “Our new prize this year is a special prize for youth groups or classes. Whichever has the best float will win a pizza party for up to 25 people donated by Paul’s Sub Shop and Morin Sanitation,” added Hanley.
Though the Christmas Light Parade will be giving, they also hope to help other charitable organizations receive.
“The reason behind the theme “Christmas for Everyone” is that with times being tough, we are trying to help the Limestone Fire Department collect toys for Toys for Tots,” said Hanley, “Feed the County is also going to come and pick up food donations; we’re trying to get the theme out that we want every child that wants a Christmas to have a Christmas,” Hanley added.
There will be individuals collecting either new toys or monetary donations to Toys for Tots
“The Christmas Light Parade is really something for the kids and something for the community,” said Scott Caldwell.
“What we’re asking people to do is just decorate their vehicle, a float, or anything they choose with some sort of lighting,” said Hanley, “We’re going to lineup at the Limestone Community School at 5pm.”
Though previous years have seen parade attendance at twenty to twenty-five participants, the past few years have down to ten or less participants.
“We used to do well a few years ago but participation has dropped off,” said Scott Caldwell, “We’re trying a few new things to get more people involved.”
The Limestone/Caswell Boy Scouts will be hosting a big bonfire before the parade at 4:30 p.m.  at the old Urban parking lot. The bonfire will continue throughout the duration of the parade.
The Girl Scouts/Adventure Group will be providing caroling, and Santa will make his much anticipated appearance to light the Christmas tree.
The Christmas Lights Parade is the brainchild of Caldwell’s Auto, LLC, Hometown Fuels, the Limestone Recreation Center, and others.
Participants can register at the lineup on the night of the event, or by contacting Bobbi Jo Hanley at Caldwell’s Auto, LLC (325 – 8802), or Charleen Elliot at Hometown Fuels (325 – 4411).
