The Aroostook Youth Basketball League (AYBL) has gotten underway for area 5-6 graders.
The Houlton 5-6 grade boys are yet to be challenged by competitors.
In their first game against Presque Isle Blue on November 22, Houlton picked up a lopsided 72-11 victory behind Kyle Bouchard’s 14 points, Jacob Drew’s 12 and Garrett Ring’s 10.
In the second game, Houlton devastated Presque Isle White, 79-9, as Mo Diane, Ian Goetsch and Daniel Howe all scored 12 points.
In their November 15 game, Houlton overpowered Washburn, 68-24, with Bouchard pouring in 24 points, while Drew netted 16 and Garrett Putnam fired in 10 more.
In their season opener, the Houlton boys overwhelmed Linneus, 72-11. Leading the scoring was Bouchard with 14, while Drew, Goetsch and Howe all added 10 points.
Devin Quint had seven and Keegan Gardner four for Linneus.
On the girl’s side, the Houlton 5-6 grade team lost a doubleheader to Caribou on November 22.
In the opener, Houlton fell 25-19, with Katie Condon pumping in 10 points, while in the second contest, Caribou defeated Houlton, 35-22, with Natalie Hill scoring nine points and Condon adding eight more.
The 5-6 grade Houlton girls will be in action on Saturday, Dec. 6 with a doubleheader against Presque Isle Blue at 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. at the Gentle Memorial Building.
