PIHS fall athletes earn recognition

    Presque Isle High School held the fall sports awards night on Monday, Nov. 10. Certificates, letters, and special recognitions were given in JV/varsity soccer, cheering, varsity golf, and varsity cross country.     In junior varsity girls’ soccer, coach Todd Player awarded certificates to Freshmen Hillary Albert, Kate Campbell, Brittany Caron, Chelsey Carroll, Melissa Carson, Claire Cheney, Paige Doyen,Brittany Good, Catharine Hamilton, Katie Patenaude, Jessica Theriault, Danni Wolland, and Manager Stacia Caron. Sophomores Shae Adler, Rilee Elliot-Currie, Chelsea Lynds, Melanie Maynard, and Linsday Michaud also received certificates, as well as Juniors Casey Carson, Naiomi Donovan, Haley Johnston, Alicia Kierstead, and Jordyn Kinney.
    Junior varsity boys’ soccer was coached by Nate Hasty, who also presented team players with certificates. Freshmen Sam Clukey, Andrew Kofstad, Dylan Michaud, Ryley Norton, Jake Player, Travis Powers, Cole Richards, Connor Shaw and Ben Sipe were among the recipients, as well as Sophomores Paul Elish, Edward Escobar, Caleb Mathers, Ben McKenna, Zach Raineri, Zach Raymond, Derek Sczuroski, Andrew Wilcox, and Juniors Jacob Bonville, Chase Guerrette, and Ryan Thibeau.
    Jolene Kinney coached the girls’ cheering this fall and recognized Freshman Erica Hemphill, Sophomore Julea Gorneault, and Juniors Glendon Zernicke and Volunteer Manager Brittni Basu with certificates. Freshmen Barbara Bonville, Brittany Burlock, Mikaela Fay, Courtney Lyford, Michaea Powers, Kathryn Sharp, and Bonnie Zeng all received 1st year letters, along with Sophomores Jordyn Burby and Stephaine Therrien. 2nd year letter recipients were Juniors Meghan Boucher and Emily Brown, and 3rd year letters went to Seniors Rachel Churchill, Jordyn Madore, and Jenna Watt. Seniors Brittany Brown, Jocelyn Davis, and Autumn Whittaker all received 4th year awards.
    Ralph Michaud, assisted by Mark White, coached the Presque Isle varsity girls’ soccer team this fall. Sophomore Rilee Elliot-Currie was awarded with a certificate. Freshmen Elise Jones, Chelsea Nickerson, and Kayla Richards were recognized with 1st year letters, as well as Sophomore Mackenzie Pinette and Junior Brooke Long-Postell and Jenna Stephenson. 2nd year letters went to Sophomore Abbie LaPointe and Juniors Amy Grivois, Alyssa Huston, Kailee Ireland, and Kelsey Park. Recipients of 3rd year letters were Junior Jodie Buckley and Seniors Brittany Bearden and Hannah Cheney. And Seniors Amber Griffin, Kayla Legassie, Sarah Porter, Katrina Whittier, and manager Katelynn Hartt all received 4th year letters.
    Varsity boys’ soccer coach Scott Young, assisted by coach Tim McCue, did not present any certificates. 1st year letters went to Freshmen Isaac LaJoie, and Wilder York, Sophomores Josh Allen, Brandon Bonville, Andrew Legassie, Carter Melendez-Christensen, Oliver Zubrick and managers Stephen Goulet and Mike Picard. Juniors Drew Long-Postell, Nathaniel Postell and Senior Manager Dusty Graham all received 1st year letters as well. Juniors Nate Ackerson, Matt Chasse, and Dillon Kingsbury were recognized with 2nd year letters along with Seniors Lucas Mathers and Eric Morris. Seniors Russ Mortland, Evan Richards, and Warren Zubrick each received 3rd year letters.
    Varsity golf was coached by James York, who awarded certificates to Freshmen Nicholas Davis, Matt Freeman, Cody Merrill, Nate Sperrey, Sophomores James Bradley, Mike McPherson, Alex Tuttle, and Junior Alex Doody. 1st year letters went to Freshman Evan Waddell, Sophomores Travis Dyer and Jordan Hallett, Juniors Keenan Eaton and Jason Martin, and Senior Justin Dyer. The only recipient for a 2nd year letter was Senior Jon Humphrey.
    Mike Waugh coached this season’s varsity boys’ cross country running. Freshmen Matt Eager and Jesse Rochester, as well as Sophomores Tyler Michaud, Logan Thibeau and Junior Ethan York were presented with 1st year letters. 4th year letter recognition went to Seniors Alex Carter, Brandon Hafford, and Jason Johnson.
    Lori Googins coached the varsity girls’ cross country running and awarded 1st year letters to Sophomore Emily Wright and Junior Elizabeth Wright. 2nd year letters were presented to Sophomores Jaylee Fox and Alecia Palmer as well as Junior Hallie Bartlett. Juniors Julia Brown and Jerica Fox received 3rd year letters and Senior Krista Buck was recognized with a 4th year letter.
    For athletes who had received a total of six varsity letters in any varsity sport, sweatshirts were awarded. Fall cheering recognized Brittany Brown and Jenna Watt. Hallie Barlett and Julia Brown received sweatshirts for cross country, as well as Jodie Buckley for varsity soccer.
    In addition to fourth year letters, students who had earned a letter since their freshman year of play were given Varsity Jackets. For fall cheering: Brittany Brown, Jocelyn Davis, and Autumn Whittaker. Cross country: Krista Buck, Alex Carter, Brandon Hafford, and Jason Johnson. And varsity soccer bestowed sweatshirts to athletes Amber Griffin, Kayla Legassie, Sarah Porter, Katrina Whittier, and Manager Katelynn Hartt.
