Turkey Trot 5K slated for Saturday
The 23rd annual Cary Medical Center Turkey Trot 5K Road Race will be held at Caribou High School Saturday.
Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the race begins at 10 a.m. The registration fee is $10 and includes a long-sleeved T-shirt to the first 65 to enter. There are awards in three age categories in addition to the overall race winners. The post-race ceremonies include the traditional turkey-topped pizza. Novice splits contests
The Presque Isle novice hockey team bested Carleton II and lost to Woodstock I in action last weekend.
In Saturday’s 7-1 victory over Carleton II, Heinze Schumacher was the winning goalie, facing eight shots. Jake Stevens and Bailey York scored their first-ever goals, while Devin Ireland added another and Thomas Patenaude led the way with four. Eric Benson, Torey Levesque and Kyra Schumacher all had assists.
On Sunday, PI fell to Woodstock I, 6-4. Patenaude scored three times and Kyra Schumacher scored her first career goal. Benson, Levesque and Ireland contributed assists and Heinze Schumacher again handled the chores in goal.
The next scheduled game is Dec. 6 at 5 p.m. at the Forum in Presque Isle.
Varsity Club to hold collection drive for shelter
The Presque Isle High School Varsity Club will be collecting items to donate to the Central Aroostook Humane Society beginning Monday, Dec. 1 through Monday, Dec. 15.
Items needed at the shelter include: bleach, clean towels (old and new), paper towels, laundry soap, fabric softener, non-scoop cat litter (much needed item), throw rugs, leashes, glass cleaner, clean blankets (old and new), scratching posts, toys, pet beds, dish washing liquid, dog or cat nail clippers, pet treats, Q-tips, cat nip, cat carriers, pens, scotch scrubs, and plastic bags.
The shelter will also accept monetary donations. Please make checks out to PIHS.
