Rotary Club
The Mars Hill Rotary Club met at the Aroostook Health Center on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 6:30 a.m. The special speaker was Gordon Wark, president and general manager of WAGM. He spoke about the DTV transition happening on Feb. 17, 2009. Plans were started in 1996 to discontinue analog signals and go to digital. This will allow the station to send more than one channel at a time. The transition will cost the station more than $1 million.
WAGM is very active in the area in public service work. They support Feed The County, Catholic Charities of Maine, the United Way, the Red Cross and more.
BHA news
The folks at the Bridgewater Historical Association would like to wish everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous holiday season. A sincere thank-you goes out to all who have supported the BHA through the year. Another thank-you goes to everyone who helped put on the events at the hall. Thanks to those who support the music program – they are about one-third of the way toward the goal of buying a new PA system for the hall.
The BHA has many events in the works for next year and maybe a few through the winter. Stay tuned for further announcements. If you haven’t attended any of the events, you should give them a try next year. They are lots of fun!
Bridgewater may be a small town, but they have very active groups including the BHA, a Recreation Department, the Golden Age Club, Community Club and Crafting.
For more information on the BHA, contact President Denis Gagne at 429-8290 or Jann Votaw at 425-7901. Thanks again and have a wonderful holiday season.
